The Human Services major affords students with excellent knowledge and field experience that will be beneficial to understanding the skills, knowledge, and values associated with the Master of Social Work. The Double Owl Pathway in Human Services - Master of Social Work is an ideal program for students desiring a career in a profession that is designed to “enhance human well-being" and meet the basic and complex needs of people with a particular focus on those who are vulnerable, oppressed, and living in poverty. It is a profession with meaning, action, diversity, satisfaction, and a variety of options (NASW).

Admission Requirements


Double Owl Admission Requirements 
  • Admission to the Human Services Major. See our Human Services degree requirements in the ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ Undergraduate Course Catalog or on our website at 
  • Have and maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Students will be accepted on a rolling admission until all spots are filled or by July 1, whichever comes first. (Note:  There are only 16 total spaces available each year across all undergraduate programs participating in the MSW Double Owl pathways).
Double Counted Courses Include
  • SW 7702 to count for HS 3200
  • SW 7700 to count for Major Concentration Course
  • SW 7704 to count for Major Concentration Course

Suggested Timeline

Declaration of the Human Services major can occur as soon as one is accepted to ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ State University.  For advising we suggest majors apply to the Double Owl Pathway no later than the end of their sophomore year or upon completion of 45 credit hours towards the bachelor's degree.
