Health Promotion and Wellness hires students majoring in health-related majors, as well as provides internship opportunities. Please call 470-578-6394 for potential openings.

Public Health Intern

This internship is designed to be an in-person, on site internship. The intern will assist in the coordination and facilitation of health education programs for ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ Health Promotion and Wellness. This internship is available to undergraduate and graduate students in Public Health and Public Health Education majors. Student interns will have the opportunity to assist in the planning and implementation of health education programs in addition to working closely with the peer health education program housed within the department.

    Sherry Grable joined Health Promotion and Wellness in January of 1997 from the Butler County Health Department in southeast Missouri where she served as a multi-county health educator. Sherry has been in the health promotion field for over 20 years. She holds BS degree from Southeast Missouri State University in health management with an emphasis in health promotion and minors in exercise science and marketing. She completed her M.Ed. in Health Promotion and Behavior with concentration in community health from the University of Georgia in 2001.

  • Dalida Brown

    Dalida Brown joined Health Promotion and Wellness in September 2016. She received her BS in Biology Education from ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ State University in May 2011 and her Master of Public Health from Armstrong State University in December of 2014. She completed her practicum with the American Diabetes Association and worked on several of their community events. Prior to coming to ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ, she has had the opportunity to give countless presentations on various health and safety topics throughout the community. Dalida is passionate about Health Promotion and is excited to be back at ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ State University to help the students of ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ live healthy lives.

    Barbara Leydecker joined Health Promotion and Wellness in January 2021. She received her BS in Nutrition and Dietetics in May 2017 and her MS-Coordinated Program in Nutrition and Dietetics in December 2018, both from Georgia State University.  She is a registered dietitian nutritionist licensed in the state of Georgia.  Barbara is excited to provide nutrition counseling and education to the students of ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ.

    Danielle Southern attended ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ State University for two years before obtaining her BS in Dietetics from the University of Georgia in 2016. She then completed her Dietetic Internship and MS in Nutrition Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2017. Danielle's background includes clinical nutrition, individual nutrition counseling, and eating disorder advocacy. She is excited to be back at ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ and seeks to help students break free from food rules and restrictions.

    Chelsea Williams joined Health Promotion and Wellness in November 2022. She received her BS in Public Health Education from ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ State University and is a Certified Heath Education Specialist (CHES®). Chelsea is currently receiving her Master of Public Health from Georgia Southern University. She has a background in health promotion, program planning, implementation, and evaluation, as well as leading several presentations on various health topics. She is excited to be back at ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ State to assist students in promoting and maintaining their overall health and well-being.

Wellness Fee

The Wellness Fee is used to provide financial support for health promotion programs.
